Our Story
In 2018, Treehab started with an idea. An idea to help farmers earn extra income from farmland with eco-tourism in mind and a small environmental footprint. Riley developed the idea and was invited to be a speaker at Global Table in Melbourne in 2019 with John Kerry (currently US Special Presidential Envoy for Environment).
Tiny houses had been gaining popularity overseas but were relatively new in Australia. While looking for tiny homes to purchase, Riley realised there were very few companies manufacturing in Australia, and this led him to start manufacturing, initially for the business to pursue the tourism dream. But then interest started, and so did the orders.
The business started running out of borrowed warehouse space and then quickly grew needing a larger warehouse nearby.
Innovation has been front and foremost in the growth of Treehab and the key has been understanding tiny house on wheels design and manufacture rules. Heavy haulage trailers were redesigned to best suit tiny houses and we were the first commercial business to use light-gauge steel frames. Timber was never an option for us.
We have since invested in engineering, manufacturing and supplying our own light gauge steel frames and continue to innovate.
Sustainability is always front of mind. Tiny houses have a small environmental footprint, offer affordable housing, are easily adaptable to be fully off-grid, and there are good options for using eco-friendly and recycled materials. Most important is using locally produced materials.
Treehab has now grown to include the Skene family and we look forward to working with your family to bring your tiny house dreams to reality.
